Anointing of the Sick

The Strengthening of the Soul

The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.   It is administered by anointing with blessed oil, accompanied by prayer, and is a rite that is performed to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit.  It can be received by any baptized person who has reached the age of reason and is in danger of death because of sickness or age.  Its effect is the strengthening of the soul and often of the body as well.

Anointing of the Sick takes place twice per year during Advent & Lent.  You may also contact the Parish Office 262-728-5922 to request an appointment.
