Athletics

Volleyball - A Girl's Volleyball Team for 5th - 8th Graders is sponsored for interested students.  The Volleyball season runs for 8 weeks in the early fall (September - October).  Practices and games will be held primarily on weeknights.  Coaches for the Volleyball team are volunteers.  Family members of players and are expected to help with supervision, set-up, clean-up and ticket sales.

Basketball experience for Kindergarten – 4th Grade -  Students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade may participate in a Saturday morning recreational basketball program. This runs for six weeks in January and February. Emphasis is on fun, friendships, sportsmanship and beginning basketball skills. Volunteers are needed to run this program. 

Basketball teams for 5th– 8th Grade - St. Andrew sponsors basketball teams for interested students in 5th – 8th Grade. Basketball season runs from November through March, with practices during the week in the after school and evening hours. Coaches of these teams are volunteers and family members of players are expected to help with concession sales, supervision, set-up or clean-up committees.

 Clubs and Extra Curricular

Student Council – Students in 5th – 8th Grade are invited to join Student Council. The Council meets monthly with a teacher-advisor to promote school pride, plan and run selected special events such as Red Ribbon Week and Catholic Schools Week, plan and run the School Store. There are no elections to join Student Council.
Ski Club – The Parent Association sponsors a Ski Club for students in 3rd – 8th Grades to learn and enjoy this winter sport. The Ski Club goes on weekly ski trips to a local ski resort. There are fees for lift tickets, ski rentals and bus transportation. Information regarding this activity is sent home to families prior to the winter season.
 
Band – Students in 5–8th Grade have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and play with the band. Instruction is provided in our school building and during our school day. Full band rehearsals may be conducted weekly at one of the participating schools (Delavan Christian or Our Redeemer School), and transportation for these rehearsals will be arranged. Students contract with the instructor for lessons and pay for them per semester. 
 
Yearbook Committee – Students in 6th - 8th Grade are invited to join our Yearbook Advisors to create our school yearbook from start to finish.
 
Homework Club – Students in 5-8th grade can stay after school three days a week until 4:00 and receive help from the middle school teachers. Students have a quiet environment to work in and to get their homework done.

Forensics – St. Andrew Parish School Forensic Team consists of students in 6th - 8th grades that participate with other students from area public schools in three forensic meets in February. Forensics is public speaking with set categories coupled with criteria for each. Some categories to choose from are: Reader’s Theater, Prose, Poetry, Extemporaneous TV News or Radio Broadcasting and Skits. Students are judged by teachers who follow specific guidelines.

Geography Bee and Spelling Bee – Students from 4th - 8th grades can participate in an annual Geography and Spelling Bees. In the Geography Bee, students answer a set of questions in their classroom and the two students with the highest score participate in the St. Andrew National Geographic Geography Bee. The student who wins the Geography Bee completes a written test and may qualify for further competition. In the Spelling Bee, students can volunteer to be the in the Spelling Bee and then compete with the other grades. The student who wins is eligible to compete in further competition. 
 
World Faire – As a year long project for students in grades 6-8.  In 6 and 7th grades, students research a country and write a report, create a display board and prepare a food item to present at the Spring Fair in the Spring.  Students prepare an oral presentation to present to students, parents and friends.  It is like traveling around the world without leaving St. Andrew!  Eighth graders select an American history topic and write a report, present a powerpoint, create a display board and present an oral presentation.  We invite local schools to attend our Spring Fair each spring to see the event.

State Fair – Fourth Graders at St. Andrew study about the United States in a special emphasis on Wisconsin.  Lat in teh year, each student chooses one state to research.  Students use Internet sites and Encarta to research and then use Inspiration, Word and Powerpoint to organize and present their information.  Each child constructs a book and display board and gives an oral presentation to other St. Andrew students, parents and invited guests during our Spring Fair.
 
Washington DC – Washington DC is our yearly 8th grade trip taken in the spring to tour our nation's capital.  It is a virtual "living classroom".  Students experience our government in action and visit our country's historical treasures.  This trip follows our 8th grade history curriculum.
 
TGA Golf -
TGA introduces PK-8th grade students to golf at St. Andrew's with our 5 Level Enrichment Program  before transitioning them to the golf course through camps, tournaments and clinics. Our goal is to introduce America's youth of all backgrounds to the fun, positive, character-building aspects of golf while creating a lifelong love of the game.
