My family joined St. Andrew’s Parish in 2000 when we moved to Delavan from Elkhorn. My husband, Steve, and I sent both of our sons, Alexander & Zachary, to St. Andrew Parish School where they graduated in 2009 and 2012 respectively. While our sons attended St. Andrews, I was an active volunteer serving on School Advisiory Committee & Athletics Committee as well as helping to organize the St. Nick’s Breakfast and Spartan Spectacular.
I converted to Catholicism at age 26 after marrying my husband, a cradle Catholic, & shortly before the birth of our first son. When he graduated from St. Andrew’s I felt the call to learn more about the faith I had been practicing for 14 years and volunteered to be a catechist in the Religious Ed program. I taught 9th graders for 3 years before applying and being hired as the Religious Education Coordinator for English Speaking students. Filling these roles as both Coordinator and Catechist served to deepen my faith and highlight my ultimate dependence on God for everything in my life. Three times I attended Catholic Heart Work Camp with teens from our Parish and was surprised the first time when I got so much out of an experience designed to bring our young people closer to God. For the first time, I truly felt the presence of Jesus in the room with me. As profound as that experience was for me, my goal, both in life and in my current role in Stewardship & Communications, is to help others experience the same certainty that God is with them, always.
