Spirit of Hope

Spirit of Hope provides safe emergency shelter for men who are homeless in Walworth County and has been in operation since 2005. The Shelter rotates between eight host church sites in the county from October until April.

Three meals are provided daily with showers and laundry opportunities weekly. Transportation is provided to medical appointments for those who do not have transportation. Assistance is also provided with job and housing searches with the goal of the Shelter helping the men transition back into jobs, homes and the community again. In the 2016-2017 Shelter year 65 men were assisted for a total of 2,207 bed nights, 567 meals served and 6,048 volunteer hours utilized.

Three times a year, St. Andrew Parish is responsible for providing food, transportation, and overnight supervision for four nights at the Creek Road Community Church location.  Food needs include breakfast and lunch supplies (men make their own) and a warm dinner.  Overnight supervision is provided from 7:00PM - 8:00AM.  There is a private bedroom and bathroom for overnight supervisors.  Transportation needs include a ride from the pick up point at the library to the shelter at 6:00PM and a ride from the shelter back to the library at 8:00AM.  Sometimes a newly employed shelter guest needs a ride to or from work.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you made me welcome" (Mathew 25:35)
